what I would like to add to this is that the western church has lovely people and some troublesome church power while the east (I am simplifying here east as eatern europe and ignore the copts for now) has a revert problem. I truly believe the orthodox church is very open however we eastern europeans are among the most racist and xenophobic people. You‘re german? Grandpa probably was a nazi. French or british? You‘re an arrogant piece of shit and so on and so forth. It also fits your description of isolationist, we 100% don‘t welcome people. Which is a shame since the people bring a bad wrap to the religion
