Nova 2 - weird shadow under text in 3rd party reading app since 3.0 update?

I normally use Moon Reader to read instead of Neo Reader. I like a lot about the 3.0 update, but the "enhance font color" setting optimization in App Optimization seems to be making a weird shadow around text now, whereas it looked fine before.

On 2.3.1 the enhance font color text blackened UI text. Now it seems to outline it instead, but on already black text, there's that weird slight shadow surrounding the text.

If I disable the "enhance font color" option it goes away, but then UI elements get kinda faded, and I liked how it was before.

Is anyone else noticing this? Particularly, is this also happening on the No[te|va] 3 line that launched with firmware 3.0?
