I have been looking at getting a e-ink reader to study for a promotional exam. All of the books for this exam have been uploaded to a cloud and are PDF files with images. There are over 100 books that I will need to go through.

I want something that is very minimalistic, I do not need any distractions of social media or any other apps. I need to be able to download the pdf's or upload them to the e-reader from my computer and be able to read and take notes on the pdf. Would love to be able to search those notes while studying at later dates. I like the idea of color for highlighting but don't know if it is truly necessary.

I have been looking at Supernote and Boox Note Air3c. Not sure which would be best for my use case.

I am also debating on waiting until the new Supernote comes out hopefully in April.
