Hiya folks! I kinda don’t know where else to go with this one so here I am. I used to play guitar hero and sometimes before I slept I’d see the notes you had to hit repeat in my head when I closed my eyes. I think this is called the Tetris effect. Thought that was pretty common.
Other games I play on my Quest are Echo (greatest game ever I love it!), Arizona Sunshine, 2MD and Super Hot and have never had the problem I am having today with Onward.
I played Onward for a few hours since it’s release! I LOVE IT. Holy cow. I’m on the roof in quarantine gunning soldiers down with support weapons, but laying belly first basically tongue-ing my kitchen floor! The roaches under my fridge must think I’m a loony toon.
But here’s the issue and I hate to self diagnose but the last two nights I’ve woken up shell shocked, for lack of a better word. The Tetris effect, but scenes of people dying in Onward, sometimes me looking at myself dead from above. Uncontrollable sweats and shivers and nightmares of battles I never fought! Volk troopers coming into my home and as I search for a baseball bat or hammer, they enter and I wake up startled and continue to search for a hammer or bat until I shake it off. I can’t stop thinking about it when I wake up too. It’s taken over my weekend and I hope it doesn’t begin to consume my life! What happens when the line between virtual reality and reality blur?!?
Maybe I should stick to Echo. Has this ever happened to you? Drop a line if it has or if you have any advice. Maybe I just need my Onward VR legs. Maybe I need to lay off the whippets before bed. Now I truly know first hand what they mean by War is HELL!
