Hi folks,

Recently, one of the members of parliament under the banner of the new democratic party left the parliament for personal reasons, not being able to accomplish the work that was entrusted to him by the voters. I would like to thank this member for his humility and awareness of his abilities. He recognized that someone else would better represent the interests of his constituency and for that I thank him for his honesty and humility.

First of all, I would like to introduce myself to you, because I would be the candidate who hopes to have the chance to represent you in the Ontario Legislature. I hope to have the great opportunity to replace my colleague. I have proven that I am capable of representing you, particularly through my role in the creation of bills that have already been tabled in the legislature or that are in the process of being created. As such, I have the strength but also the boundless motivation to represent you to the best of my ability, both in your local and national interests.

I would also like to introduce our government, the one that is in play during this election. In the last general election, the New Democratic Party won a majority of seats, giving it a majority government in Ontario. It was the will of the voters that with almost half of the popular vote in the province, an election result rarely seen in favour of one party, my party, the party of which I am fortunate enough to be deputy leader, forms a government. I have also announced that I am not giving up on politics, as I believe there are still important causes that I feel I could advance in the legislature. Let's talk about this government, which today is in play for the next election.

This is a government that, on the very first day of the legislature, delivered a Speech from the Throne that would announce its policy of putting Ontario's citizens first. A policy that is transparent, inclusive, accountable and committed to creating the Ontario of tomorrow. An Ontario that aspires to be a social, economic and environmental leader. An Ontario that is a great place to live. In the first few weeks, this government has delivered on its promises, starting with the introduction of legislation to redress the injustices caused by the Conservative Party, which is now supporting the Green Party in this election, to the hard-working public servants, especially the nurses, who worked so hard and risked their lives during the pandemic for our common good. I would like to take this opportunity to thank these heroes: The government is working for you. To put people first.

On the contrary, the Green Party is endorsed by the political party that has contributed to the bleeding of public services in our province, the pandemic was also a clear demonstration of the fragility of our health care system due to the policies of previous governments. The Green Party candidate is a candidate who has repeatedly opposed policies to ensure affordable housing for all Ontarians. The candidate I oppose is a candidate who is supported by a party that, when in government, Withheld Data on Campus Sexual Assaults, Gerrymandered Local Elections in Toronto, Scrapped Ontario's Sex-Ed Curriculum. The same party that promised to Roll Back Laws Protecting the Rights and Freedom of Women. The same party that want to privatize 25% of healthcare and deny inflation relief. This is what the election is all about. The rights and living conditions of all Ontarians are being decided in this riding today. And I want you to take the measure of this responsibility.

Today, we are at the point in the narrative where everything can change, for the better or for the wrost, and it is you, the voters of Simcoe-Peterborough-Prince Edward, who have the power to continue the progress we have begun, or to return to the destructive and corporate-oriented policies of the previous government. Voting for the new Democratic Party is the only option to continue the work we have done and have a functional government. It is up to you to make the choice to put the people first.

Let's continue putting people first, together.Thank you
