LL insisting they get to keep hardwired fixtures I paid for.

Post Body

I live in a Skyline condo where they struggle to keep resident managers and resident assistant managers.

Shortly before our now current resident manager was hired, the current-at-the-time RM gave me verbal permission to have new lights installed in my kitchen, dining and foyer areas by my relative who is a retired contractor. In fact the wiring was done incorrectly on the original fixtures, however my guy thoughtfully made the repairs.

Once I got around to having them installed the old RM’s had quit and the now current RM is in command.

The day after installation I called her to inquire about dropping off Skyline’s lights as I don’t want them to be damaged etc. (I’ve lived here since 2017 and no plans of leaving in the foreseeable future)

She lost it on me.

Raised her voice, asked me where I got off having electrical work done - a whole bunch of incredibly unprofessional behaviour. Long story longer, she told me to bring her the fixtures and that whenever I move out I am NOT to remove my lights (at $179.99 each!!) and all work must be approved by her.

Can she demand that of me?

I was only doing what I knew to be permitted, and thought I was doing the thoughtful thing in returning their property so it didn’t run the risk of being damaged while stored in my suite.

TLDR - I installed hardwired lights at my expense and my new resident manager said they get to keep them.
