Hello all,
I'm hoping this r/ and topic will be interesting to other small business owners to gain information around regulations. As of December 20th, 2022 there is a Canada wide prohibition on Single-use Plastics.
My food service business is largely take-out based, with Costco cardboard boxes for lunch combos and 12 oz clear plastic w/ for liquids. We started with paper straws, wooden cutlery, and bio-degradable cups - but food packaging items are harder to source and so very expensive.
What are some strategies that have worked for your restaurant when switching to a deposit based model? Will there be a massive culture shift thrust on people and they will just expect to bring-your-own-takeout-stuff?
Good luck in your businesses. :)
