Unpopular opinion: I didn't want Loretta and Oliver to end up together
Post Body

I'm sorry, I like Meryl Streep, but I enjoyed the show primarily because I love seeing Steve Martin and Martin Short together. Ever since Loretta and Oliver became a couple, Charles and Oliver barely have scenes together, and when they do, they’re very short. Plus, I know they’re all fictional characters, but it’s a bit depressing for me to think that Oliver will get married and then he and Charles won’t be neighbors anymore. I guess my problem is that I’m not as invested in Loretta as most people seem to be.

Both of the others have had 2-3 relationships that didn't last. This one seems a bit more solid, but it'll most probably end up with neither of them being ready to give up their situations. Loretta's got a Hollywood future and Oliver has the podcast and also his son in New York. Even though they've had almost zero screen time, he introduced himself by talking about his grandkids being his passion. With Loretta, they could also bring up the fact that she doesn't want to give up on her time with her recently reunited son (who may not want to leave the West coast either).

I think they needed Loretta just to have at least one romance arc for Oliver.

That makes sense. The question is: what's the endgame?

Oh cool. So she would be like Mike (Paul Rudd) in Friends, who survived two seasons as the partner of a main character until the very end of the show.

True. I just thinking keeping them a couple will add a distraction to the show. It would be too weird if Oliver didn't talk about their relationship regularly, and if he did, that would take some of the bandwidth in a show that's only 10 episodes a year. Relationships in this show haven't survived once they were no longer useful to the plot. Even this time I wouldn't be surprised if she or Jonk don't end up with some connection to the case (even if it's a red herring).
