Episode 3 was 70% red herring.
The leg of ham in the family's bathroom was jamon iberico. (Sorry for not adding the accent marks, Spanish & Portuguese folks.)
Dudenoff is in Portugal.
The family is part of a black market import scheme to get either the finished, dry-aged cuts themselves into the country, or the pigs. Smuggle in a pig, feed it acorns, wash its blanket in tea–full of tannins, like acorns–to keep it satisfied staying in an empty apartment, dry-age it here in the states and pass it off as genuine. Dudenoff may be willing participant, may be under duress; either way, their spending time in the Iberian Peninsula and having an empty apartment is crucial to the scheme. May be voice on HAM radio.
The voice on the radio–maybe Dudenoff–was the former player of their floor's friendly card game. Found out where the ham came from, had a connection to the pigs–gave this latest one a name–and is in hiding because, y'know, trying to break up a black-market import operation. Disavowed by all their former friends, face scratched out of photo.
Possibly working with Christmas Guy to break up the ring, as he's the only one (on that side of the floor) who seems to be unconnected to the whole thing.
Perfect Strangers theme is simply a signal SOMEONE use to plan communications; dunno if it's the smugglers or the vigilante investigators.
No idea about the tinsel/ribbon. 😅 Unless it's part of the aging process or a makeshift "grade" tag to make finished ham haunches appear legit.
Episode 3 was, perhaps, 30% actual clues pointing to Eugene Levy.
saw mention of the film in the trades or heard about it from someone at the studio
started researching the role
watched a ton of Charles in Brazzos
learned about the Winchester used in the murder; could name the episode with that info
saw the mini-doc about Sazz that Charles was watching
figured Sazz might be up for the role: same build, close friendship with Charles, decades of character study, Charles might even petition for her getting the role
more research learning about the building, secret passages, incinerator from the podcast
begins wondering how to off Sazz, researches her
discovers Sazz's unfinished investigation of what turns out to be the ham smuggling ring, discovers the empty apartment; plan cements
uses incinerator to burn Sazz's body bc he's Canadian and feels just awful leaving her body in Charles' apartment
That still may be too many clues already to actually be the solution; it may be the solution because no one would expect the writers to pin a murder on Eugene Levy 🤣
