when do you decide to meet?

I've had some nice chats with people online but it all just seems like convos with friends.
I went on a date and I'm not really sure why. I guess just cause the guy asked me and he was nice.
We had a good time but he felt like a nice new friend and not someone I want to date.
part of me thinks I just need to keep rolling the dice and I'll end up feeling a little more than just platonic with someone. but the thought of meeting more and more people for first dates already feels exhausting.
