Ignoring vs. “Not interested”
Post Body

Would you rather send a message and be ignored or get a “not interested” instead?

I’m used to being ignored, and I interpret that as someone not being interested. However, last month I got my first two “not interested” and it kind of hurt.

When someone just ignores my message it leaves an open window of mystery, as there could be millions of reasons for them not to reply.

How do you guys feel? Which one do you prefer? Maybe I just got too used to being ignored that now that I’m getting the “not interested” it feels strange

Comments

Because I know how and when to take a hint, I'd rather they stopped responding, as that's more than enough of a sign that there's little to no interest there.

I honestly don't say anything until they've gotten back to me. I could reach out a second time days later, but I don't see a need to; they'll reach out when they can, and if not, then clearly they've chosen not to. Messages don't disappear on their own and if they missed it, it will still be there for them if they should reach out on their own, if that's what they want to do.
