So on many, I would even suggest the majority, of women's profiles on most common dating apps, the preference for "ambition" as a key trait for prospective partners. While I understand that everyone is going to be a little different in how they conceptualize and their expectations for an ambitious person should think and act, I am having difficulty understanding whether I fit the characterization at all or if I don't and shouldn't even waste my time showing interest to someone with that on their profile.
For a bit of background, I graduated from Veterinary school last year. Without getting too much into the weeds, by the time I was done I was tired and frankly burnt out. I have a job in a clinic that is stable and I immensely enjoy it but I have no ambition to move up, own my own clinic, or otherwise advance beyond being a capable general practice veterinarian. My only ambition is really just having a good day from day to day and just enjoy the relative normalcy and avoid the stress that was a constant companion in school.
Now obviously there is a degree of ambition required to get through a program like vet school but that is certainly not something I have really engaged in since graduating. I would definitely not consider myself ambitious at this point, I have achieved what I wanted and really just aim to maintain it at this point.
So where do I stand? What are people thinking when they say they are attracted to ambition? And again, should I just ignore profiles that are seeking ambitious partners because I don't fit?
