I won't bore you with a cliché-filled posting combining predictable complaints about my marriage with far-fetched claims about my alleged hotness. If you've been on Reddit for more than 10 minutes, you probably already have had your fill of those.
The short version: I'm a professionally successful older guy (professor) whose kids are finally on their own. My marriage is a nice partnership, but I find myself wanting to find a compelling online connection with whom I can share things (major and trivial and everything in between) throughout the day.
What can I say? I would just like to have some spark in my life, (And, yes, that is kind of a cliché.)
In a perfect universe, my partner in this endeavor would be at least somewhat like me in terms of background and outlook. I'm more likely to find common ground with someone who is settled into her career and family life. No, this doesn't mean you have to be the female version of me (a 50-something academic with older kids), but I think a relationship is more likely to endure if there are a healthy number of shared experiences to talk about.
The details of your marriage are your own business, and I don't necessarily need to know every nuance. Obviously, you wouldn't be lurking around OA if everything was perfect at home, but I'm not eager to engage in relentless spouse-bashing, or to lure you into dramatically changing your life circumstances.
No pressure for anything hot and heavy, no constant demands for pictures, etc. Just easy, respectful chat with someone bright and normal and emotionally well-balanced. Bonus points if you are able to bring a decent grasp of grammar and spelling to this relationship.
Strong preference for building something long-term over enjoying a fleeting connection over a couple of days and then ghosting each other.
I don't have any major hang-ups about age, but the "half-plus-seven" rule seems like a decent cut-off (so you probably should be in the neighborhood of 36 or over). I'm in the Midwest, if that matters to you in terms of timing. (I am on CST.)
