Post Body

I remembered, I remembered! IYKYK

I'm 48 and I'm looking for a fellow GenX. I prefer personality and intelligence over hard ages. As a point of mention as well, I'm not white, just to get that out of the way, though I grew up mostly with white. I’d like to connect with someone that is married, with some kids, and now find yourself looking … here. I get it … you get it … WE get it.

I am a child of the 80s and 90s and have been waxing lots of nostalgia of late and would love to chat and banter about our awesome childhood. Let’s share stories about how lucky we are that we didn’t have cell phones and social media in our days.

I ate Flintstones vitamins, hung out at the malls with my friends, pegged my jeans, wore IOUs and Z Cavariccis that I bought from Merry Go Round, and played tons of Nintendo. On the school playground, I played wall ball, four square and a game that I can no longer mention. In the classroom, we loved when the TV cart rolled in, was asked to clean the chalkboard erasers outside, and learned cursive. We also played Oregon Trail and Hot Dog Stand on the Apple IIe. We even took typing class in high school.

My neighborhood friends just showed up to my home UNANNOUNCED, but never before Saturday morning cartoons were over. We rode our bikes everywhere, knew every street in our neighborhood and got around without Google Maps.

Oh, and can’t forget I learned to count with a pinball machine with Electric Company … and yes, I was sent to the store for a loaf of bread, a carton of milk, and a stick of butter.

If any of this resonated with you - you are who I am looking for and I want to talk about the greatest childhood ever.

My preference is for a slow burn. Let’s chat online for a while and see if there is a connection … and if so, let’s see if we can meet in person. I live in the Chicagoland area and work downtown on a regular basis. I love to talk - if it’s over a beer, coffee, or cocktail.

I am college educated (with a masters, to boot) and now work in corporate. I’ve progressed pretty well in my career but since I’m hitting my late 40s, starting to see the end of the road in corporate, so thinking about my future a lot more. Oh, and because I went to college in the 90s, it was actually affordable and I paid for it with some jobs and graduated with some spending money in my pocket.

I love traveling and some of my favorite vacation spots include:

  • Florida (everything from Disney to beaches on the west side)
  • Jersey Shore (yes, I really do like vacations in New Jersey and Wawa rocks)
  • Arizona for Spring Training (love baseball)

My musical tastes were really defined sometime in HS and college. Bands include Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Cake, Incubus, Prince and a few local bands that never went very far. Back in my early 20s I had disposable income and saw so many great bands play in small venues.

I'm married with two boys, and would like to not blow stuff up. My OPSEC is tight and would expect yours to be as well. I can keep things out of sight financially and would expect you to ask well.

I'm a great conversationalist and love to chat. I'm going to ask many questions as you ask of me. Voice memos and the occassional video message may happen from time to time. BTW, we were the generation that grew up on AOL IM.

Let’s chat!
