On a mid-morning Monday, my thoughts wander to chance encounters and instant chemistry. I remember the knowing curve of a smile, a lingering look, a sense of immediate shared energy, that electricity of the first casual touch.

There's something about the first best conversation when you can say the things you have stopped breathing out loud and recall the edges of the map where your mind once adventured.

Nothing has changed in your core or mine -- beneath the heaped bushels of time and responsibilities and relationships with worn edges blazes still that light and heat and life that made you dance without caring, try strange new foods, and charge off to the ends of your horizons.

I miss the shared adventure, the anticipation of what the open jetway promises, the scent of a new wind, the chance to hear a lilt a whisper a song anew. I miss the Christmas anticipation of unwrapping the present of you too.

I am the one you would least expect to be wandering the borders of the conventional and respectable. I know you too have well crafted your apple cart and have no wish for its instability.
