That’s the nature of affairs, I’ve learned. Nothing lasts; eventually one side moves on. Usually it’s quick—of the 20 women who messaged me from my post two days ago, one remains. Sometimes it’s longer—my most valuable affair on here lasted over 3 years. But it ends. And I’m not upset about it anymore.

People who want an affair—a true affair, not someone for whom to leave their spouse—understand that an affair needs to be the first to go when time is tight. If your husband is sick, your kids need support, work gets busy, all of those things demand affairs take a back seat. And, on the other side, when your affair partner gets busy, it’s hard to wait. Especially when this subreddit can provide an endless supply (if you’re a woman or a man with basic literacy skills).

This results in “ghosting.” Though I hate the term. It’s so nebulous. If we talked for a day, and then you stop replying, is that ghosting? I don’t know. But I know people hate it but it’s also a reality.

That’s all to say that I’m trying to rid myself of these common issues. By embracing that these affairs are, more likely than not, spurious, we can actually embrace whatever time we have. Maybe this is the one that grows into something long term. But in the likely event it doesn’t, we can still enjoy the brief escape.

As for the standard shit, I’m a 36 year old lawyer who cheats. Fucking cliche, I know. I’m attractive to most with a runners body. But eye of the beholder and all that; I’m happy to send a pic early on another app.

I’m alone for the next few nights and the silence is weighing me down. I’d love a chat. Especially about anything beyond the standard stuff.
