32 M4F Looking for intelligent conversation

I think I’m looking for someone that doesn’t exist, but putting an add out there just to tell myself I at least “bought the ticket.”

I’m looking for a friend first and foremost, someone to challenge me and hold me accountable to the goals I set for myself and is looking for the same. Jumping to the point I’m coming to the realization that my partner is addicted to Bravo reality tv shows or the like, and is unwilling to consume any form of media that would even remotely be challenging. There is nothing wrong with this, but I’m increasingly finding it draining and depressing. I’m looking to see if there is anyone out there who feels the same way?

I know I sound like such a fucking hipster millennial man, but I’m looking for someone who has music recommendations that are not in the top 100 or has read something super interesting lately that they just want to share and talk about.

In fairness i’m a mixed bag of media consumption myself. I’ve read the following books in the past year:

Norwegian Wood - (interesting, but mostly trauma porn)

The Spy Wore Red -(super fun, fast read, not sure if purposefully ditzy or just ditzy)

Dune - (fun, but I think people put too much into what is escapism)

On War - (really struggled with it, not sure I understood anything other than the one line everyone quotes)

Come as you are - (felt very guilty that I actually learned a decent amount of anatomy from this book 😅)

Currently reading: The Iliad (the translation I have is surprisingly readable, no idea if it’s an accurate one)
