Find a sweater
And you'll be better
Until the kindling is tinder dry...
I think that ghosts like
The cooler weather
When leaves turn colour
They get together
And walk along
These old back roads…
There’s a lot of joy and romance about the fall. Shades of red, brown, and orange abound…wools and flannels feel soft against our bodies…succulent and smokey flavours line our lips and warn our tummies.
There’s some melancholy too..:
It’s in these days and weeks that we begin to close-up for the season…bring everything inside and prepare for the coming cold.
We retreat; fall back into shelter.
But what if we didn’t? What if we slipped on our cable knit, sipped strong coffee from metal cups, and held each others hand a little tighter?
The colours of the leaves could flicker in our eyes, and the silence that we share would be filled by the leaves crunching underfoot.
The nights are getting longer - let’s keep each-other warm
