I hope that my title sums things up fairly well! I'm a mature but restless guy who is turning to OA in an effort to find some companionship and fun.
It hit me recently that some emptiness has crept into my life. My career is winding down a bit, my kids are (for the most part) safely out of the nest, and my spouse is largely off doing her own things. I just don't have the same sense of purpose, somehow. It's been replaced by a creeping feeling of loneliness. Sound familiar?
I'm hoping to cultivate a solid, ongoing OA relationship to restore some fun and engagement to my life. I guess that I'm old enough not to be locked into some pie-in-the-sky scenario about how it should play out perfectly. I'm happy to remain open to the possibilities; there will be no pressure to escalate things, change your expectations, etc.
Realistically, I am probably most likely to make a good connection with someone who is:
over 40 an educated professional a parent low-key interested in interesting things (music, books, film, sports, etc.) reasonably physically active (does not mean triathlete) willing and able to communicate on a consistent basis capable of discretion and compartmentalization you know . . . sane (Only the last three in that list are deal-breakers. It's totally fine if your mileage varies for the other six.)
If any of that seems reasonable and compelling, respond and we can start a conversation, even if you're a lurker who isn't necessarily "looking" for something major. (I understand that vibe completely.)
