In an ideal world, I would lurk here and lie in wait to pounce on an also-married, brilliant, insightful, and eminently-compatible-with-me man, after which we would carve out a collaboratively constructed bubble of flowing conversation, inside jokes, and mutual adoration. Alas, this place is far from ideal and I've yet to come across such a singularity. And so it strikes me that perhaps the kind of man I'm looking for has also been lurking and lying in wait [1]. So, I'm hoping that a riveting lurker will make the realities of posting as a woman on Al Gore's internet [2] worth it.

Words are the primary currency in cultivating this kind of relationship, so you should both delight in and excel at using (and reading [3]) them. But be more than just superficially charming [4]; have depth and passions; have ideas and something to say. I'm compelled most by discovery, so much music, contemplating the "why" of things, and frequent indignation at the world's inequities. You'll need a sharp mind paired with emotional intelligence to successfully navigate these waters and you'll find that you're well-matched in both regards.

I'm a curious person who tends to go deep quickly and make myself at home inside the mind of someone who interests me; I find that I get along best with those who match that energy. You should have a well-developed sense of humor (I tend toward the dry and irreverent) and be prepared to care; this is not about a transactional chasing of excitement or filling of gaps. And while ineffable alchemy is paramount, there are a couple non-negotiables: you should be between the ages 38 and 48 and no more than 2 hours' time difference from EST [5].
