To be totally honest, I’m right in the middle of this book I’m super into: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, and I’m realizing it’s been a while since I’ve been into anything in quite this way. I’m only about half way through at the moment, but it’s just this gut-wrenching story of a kid growing up in Appalachia.. think Hillbilly Elegy, but subtract all the fucking JD Vance, and mix in a much more thoughtful account of all the institutions that feed into the opioid epidemic.
Anyway, even though I’m just in the midst of this current thing, I’m thinking ahead to the next book. Would love to find something that’s engrossing, which is where you come in. Tell me if you’ve got stuff you’ve been super into?
I should say — I’m not a complete idiot here. I know this sub is not for book reports. Would love to chat with a similar (obnoxiously over-educated, liberal) person out there. I’ve been in and out of the OA world, and at the moment, would love a low-stakes chat— it’s just fun to connect with people, ya know?
I’m a dad too. Moms are my jam. Liberal, nerdy moms.
Low stakes.
