I’m not sure if my post falls under the committed relationship banner as I am two weeks into a separation, but my marriage has been eroding for years as we drifted apart. Mostly it comes down to different values, and disagreements about raising our daughters (16 & 18). My wife is very conservative, and I am quite liberal in my thinking and it wasn’t the dead bedroom so much as the loss of trust that finally killed our marriage. So I have moved into a separate bedroom because our youngest daughter still needs to finish her schooling and the eldest her University studies.

I live in Australia, and I feel our most dangerous animals are the Murdoch family. Culture ways have deflected good policy decisions on carbon pricing and social infrastructure for fear and hatred. I have an undergraduate degree in Design (I enjoy art and drawing in particular) and my post graduate studies in Knowledge Management (I taught Multimedia Design) and Cognitive Psychology (for my work as an Educational Designer) has shown me we work better as collaborators that celebrate diversity and creativity through the amalgamation of complex ideas. Which is one of the reasons that I was attracted to my wife in the first place as we are opposites in so many ways. However her rejection of education has crystallised her world into simple categories and I can’t change that.

So I am seeking someone who is open to intellectual dialogue. I enjoy being challenged and am more that willing to change my perspectives if offered a richer view of life. So I am looking for a companion I can read a book with and have long conversations about. I am not seeking someone who wants to talk about reality television, but more the ideas from an Arthouse movie than the MCU cinema. Not that I am opposed to pleasure that transports us from reality, as I have enjoyed alcohol and marijuana as mental distractions to deal with life, but I am at the age now where I want a fit mind and body to allow me to enjoy my life as ai move into retirement. Part of that is being safe in my love for blue water sailing, as I plan to visit most of the pacific in my yacht over the next decade.

Physically I am a big bloke. I’m 6’ 4” and solidly built from rowing and rugby through school and University. Blonde hair (silvering) and blue eyes, I am currently losing the weight I put on from sitting long hours working in a stressful environment. I realised the environment was killing me, and recently quit to work on my mental and physical health as I am financially secure.
