anyone else having issues with group chats on default message app splitting up the messages after android 12 update?

After doing the update last night, all the messages that people send in my group chats get sent to me individually as if the person was texting me themselves. I know on the old version there was a setting in the messages app to turn that on or off. I have tried clearing the cache, erasing messages, and restarting my phone, but no luck.
