Ahoy, Nakama! First off, Season 1 of the live-action series had me on the edge of my seat it was exhilarating. The speed of it however, like steering the Going Merry through a storm and coming out unscathed! While the speed did mean we skipped some unforgettable moments like Shushu's touching pet shop flashback and that heartwarming Baratie scene where the chefs pretend to hate Sanji's cooking only to reveal he's the bestโI do believe the Live action captured the essence of One Piece beautifully. It would of been a 10/10 with two more Episodes with a few more moments from each arc.
Now, Season 1 didn't even wrap up the East Blue Saga. So what's on the horizon? A new saga that's longer than the East Blue, and finishing up East Blue itself. Talk about some challenges!
Here's my proposal: Why not have the next season go up to Drum Island or even only to the arrival at Alabasta? Let's add some meat to the Drum Island Arc bones. We could have Igaram travel with the crew after Whisky Peak and have Robin's introduction take place at Drum Island. After Whiskey Peak, maybe they could phone Robin and Crocodile, and then Robin could set sail to sort 'em out. This would make her part of the Season finale cliffhanger for Season 2. Talk about a hook, right? (Not like Captain Hook, more like "hooked on the show.") This could add another brief scene with Crocodile allowing time to set him up even more.
Now, the meat of the matter: Why not make the Alabasta Arc its own mini-season? Maybe something like four episodes, or even fewer? I genuinely believe cramming Alabasta Saga into an 8- or 10-episode format is gonna make the quality nosedive faster than Luffy chasing after meat.
And let's not even start on the potential B-plots focused on the Marines. Add to that other storylines that need to develop outside the Straw Hat Crew. The live-action series is sailing in uncharted waters; it's a different beast compared to the anime or manga. After Alabasta, Skypiea and Water 7 could feasibly fit into 10-episode seasons without feeling as stretched as Luffy's arms. I feel like this is just due to how many different locations there are in both the East blue, and Alabasta Sagas.
So, what's the crew's verdict? How would you feel about a mini-season dedicated solely to the Alabasta Arc? Yay or nay?
