In 2007 Oda said "in the final scenes of One Piece, there is a pirate with an eyepatch. When he appears we are near the end of One Piece. Considering that we see Crocus at the beginning of the Grand Line and Rayleigh halfway through, it should be Scopper Gaban at the end. Those three are besides Roger the most important characters of the crew. Maybe he will have an eye patch at the end because of some incident that happened or will happen. I think he will wait at the entrance to Laugh Tale to get the SH crew to the One Piece.
