Can someone explain hardcopy manga?

I read manga on the net and never bought or even seen a hard copy near me , so I wanna how does it work? Like what are volumes do the volumes contain multiple chapters then does that mean people in Japan have to wait months to get a single volume and how does weekly manga get updated? Do they publish all different manga weekly on shonen jump?( Like the book contains OP latest chapter , OPM latest chapter and so on?)
