This line by Emma really does get me in my feels and I believe a clever, and bittersweet, way that the filmmakers have given us a double meaning 🥺
In E1, Emma gives this line as response to Dex telling her its St Swithuns day and whatever the weather will determine the rest of summer's. When she declares its not going to rain, Dex chuckles. Whereas in E14, he chooses to remember the same convo (still w Emma's response), but this time the Q of rain takes on more of a metaphorical meaning. Dex hearing Emma tell him its not going to rain is indicative of her ensuring that the clouds of grief, he mentioned in E13, are getting lighter and with the continued assistance of time, he will be okay.🥺
We see this almost immediately - when Jasmine complains she's cold, Dex goes into Dad Mode and they immediately begin to descend Arthur's Seat - he puts Jas's needs and comfort first before his own❤💔 I'm wondering what people think of this double meaning and also whether the film/book hv the same words
The absence of rain on every St Swithin's day, except one, is another of the clever little details of the TV series. The only day we see rain is episode 13. presaging events to follow that day.

Oh yes, good spot! There were spots of rain on pavement when they meet iirc an omen of the rupture to follow
