I want to know from any person who has watched this series 2 or 3 months ago and was deeply touched by it, like so many… did you ever get over it? If so, how? Did re-watching it help or make it worse?
I finished it 2 days ago and I am completely devastated, depressed and sad. And I cannot even explain why exactly. Never felt like this in my entire life over a show/book/anything fictional! I have the strong urge to re-watch it. But too afraid of what it could do with my messed up emotions.
Please help me out ðŸ˜
I feel you 😥
Yes, I did get over it. I think re-watching did help process it a bit. I was really surprised but how emotionally impactful I found it, having read and liked the book, and watched the film - but not been hugely moved by either. The series hit me like a tonne of bricks. Sometimes though to be moved by film/ TV, even in a sad way, can be healthy - certainly it was a testament to the excellent acting, direction, videography, sound track and writing of the series.
Iirc the book is same as the series in terms of Emma's death - no detail on how he is told, reaction, it goes from the crash to next year as the anniversary. It does have more details on the first meeting, time in between July 15s in first couple years, run up to their wedding etc

Understandable - and it really is not in same league as the TV series. Dex and Em played by Leo and Ambika are far more layered, complex, flawed and relatable than the film manages. The structure of the book is just much better suited to a serial, episodic tv show in any case. The book is v good - but, something I 99% never say, I think the TV series is better - mainly because of the acting in bringing depth to the characters. The book does show a bit more attraction, depth, romantic attachment from the very start for Dex and Em that is harder to capture in the TV series, as it is from letters and inner monologues.
