It doesn't have to be strictly "Avengers", you can also pick from any of the New Avengers or even Young Avengers runs.

Personally, I'd pick New Avengers by Bendis so please reprint it now Marvel.

New avengers. I have read a few different avengers and that was my favorite. I knocked the entire book out in about 2 days because i couldn’t put it down. My ONLy real issue is it deals with several events that you really need to read to get the most out of it like house of M, civil war and the end brings in secret invasion.
