I live in a cold climate, and I want to add a secondary heat source to a circa 1900s house with lots of beautiful architectural details/clapboards, what would I choose that does wreck the beauty of the house? A large external heat pump unit doesnโt seem ideal, nor a wood stove or pellet stove which would result in a stovepipe busting through an external wall (furnace vents through existing brick chimney). The house does have propane for the cook stove; would monitor heaters be a good choice? Do they have much that shows on the outside? Any other ideas?
