I am what I describe in the title, and I find myself putting off home improvement projects that, theoretically, I could DIY pretty easily and relatively cheaply. However, I find myself putting off all these projects, mostly because I have no way of knowing whether they will snowball into something that will last longer or cost more than what it seemed like at first. And with small children, I don’t want to end up living for two months with a bad/uncomfortable/dangerous situation until I have the money and/or time to deal with unintended consequences. Does anyone else struggle with this? Has it held you back, or do you just forge ahead, hoping your children (and self, in my case, I have pretty high anxiety) will be resilient and adapt? Or have you powered through, and based on your experience, you recommend waiting until the kids are older? Happy for any feedback, thanks.
Mostly like ripping up old carpet without knowing what’s underneath, and stripping paint from trim and doors and hardware. It’s only the stuff like that that I feel like I can tackle myself.
Oooh, good New Year’s Day pep talk! Thank you so much!

I was mostly thinking of things like pulling up carpet (without really knowing what lurks underneath), stripping paint from moldings, trim, hardware, doors, etc. stuff like that
