Post Body

Being ten in the year 2000, my memory of the 90's isn't very robust.

I remember things seeming brighter and more carefree. People talk about that decade like it was a lost paradise. Do you remember the nineties like that, or is this just nostalgia?

What did you like and dislike about the 90s?

How did it feel looking back at the 80s?

What were problems that people don't talk about from that decade?

Was there a big difference from 94 to 99?

And do you feel people were more apathetic back then?

Please answer how you see fit. I'd really appreciate it.

Late 90s I do remember as being bright, bubbly, bouncy and just overall very positive but perhaps being a teen had something to do with that? But anyway…then 9/11 happened (I was 16 and going to high school in NYC). And overnight the world changed into what it feels like now. It honestly feels like what the world feels like now built up beginning that day.

My school was very multicultural and religious so no hard leanings towards Christianity. The only thing related to religion I can note was increased concern and sensitivity among some of us towards Islamophobia since crimes against Muslims were on the rise. And in my friend group a few people were Muslim so…and my high school was an arts school so people definitely were not militarily inclined.
