Hallucinations?
Post Body

I am very interested in everyone else's experiences with hallucinations as mine are beginning to ramp up to quite an intense level lately.

I mostly experience VERY intense and complex closed eye visual hallucinations these days. Constantly. I can generally function but it's like I can be talking to someone but there is just so much happening in my mind's eye that it's unreal. Completely involuntary. Religious imagery and cosmic light shows and ineffable twisting concepts that I can't seem to describe. I also get tactile hallucinations and sometimes smell as well. I also experience synesthesia at all times, though I never really understood what that meant until quite recently. I thought everyone had this going on but apparently that is not the case - seems to be a running theme, believing X is normal for all my life and finding out that X is very much not a normal thing to experience, haha.

I don't really get the psychosis style losing my grip on reality stuff often. I can generally tell what is real and what isn't outside of the absolute worst times, but the closed eye stuff is always there. It NEVER stops and it's always been like this, but it seems like I'm either more cognizant of it here lately or it's getting worse and that is intriguing to me. I am making good progress with therapy and system mapping and communication so maybe the borders are less defined? I really wouldn't say this is an unpleasant thing most of the time. Honestly it's kind of cool! It's just that when I get triggered in some way it really begins to bother me, because apart from having the uncomfortable anxiety and stress responses, what is happening in my head shifts to MUCH more macabre, violent and frequently disgusting sexual imagery. This is extremely unpleasant and frightening it seems to be totally out of my control.

Curious if you guys can relate or have any tips for handling this!
