How do you create an interesting profile when you have a more low-key personality and lifestyle?
Post Body

I have had very poor luck on OkCupid. The main problem was that I was almost completely ignored, I got few likes and even fewer responses to my messages (part of this is that I'm non-monogamous, but I know other non-monogamous men who do better than me).

I had a hard time writing a profile that didn't make me sound boring and I think it's because I have a low-key nerdy personality and lifestyle. People who actually know me IRL don't think I'm boring, but it's so hard to to convey my personality in a way that can compete with men who have more extroverted and adventurous personalities. The truth is, I haven't traveled the world, I don't have a large social circle, I'm quiet and awkward at parties and large group social situations, I don't have a high powered or inspiring job, I'm not the kind of man who will take a woman on a wild date through the city, etc. I'm not a shut-in and I do have a life and things going on, but it's nothing adventurous or wild.

My idea of a fun date night is low-key and semi-serious but not humorless conversation about philosophy and movies and analyzing social dynamics over drinks at a quiet bar, or perhaps a night of friendly competition in board or video gaming followed by watching an unusual film together neither of us has seen. I'm told by my IRL friends that I'm a good one-on-one conversationalist and listener and that I can be eccentric and have interesting perspective on things. But how do I convey that in a profile? Everything I tried either felt super forced and pretentious, or made me come off as kinda dry and academic (my profile ended up being the latter). It's hard to "show" this personality type rather than "telling" it.

I currently don't have a profile as I deleted my old account in frustration about a month ago, but I'm thinking of dipping my toes back in if I can do it right this time.

edit: fixing typo
