Advice/ Asking a stranger for verification to ensure you wont be scammed/ catfished.
Post Body

As you all know, its rather common sense to assume a stranger overseas (or local), Who may look too good to be true, is probably exactly that , too good to be true. Especially if you have been catfished before or scammed. For this reason as well as the fact that many accounts are clearly fake , I have a question. If i start speaking with a stranger online, before i give away too many details about myself, i want verification to know if they are real or not. Whether it be a simple selfie with a peace sign, voice memo, or just exchanging Instagram's or WhatsApp's to chat and ensure the person I'm talking to is real and not some scam or catfish. The question is, Why, almost every time i ask for verification, the person then becomes extremely defensive ( like " what, don't you think im real, if you don't think I'm real then im not interested and bye, why dont you think im real, do i look fake?"??) even before asking about the type of verification i require to make a judgment and runs away or attacks me more verbally via text and seems to not want to prove they are real , is it rude to ask someone if they are real by asking for verification , or are they simply fake if they chose not to verify and ive likely dodged a bullet? Would love your thoughts. I dont want to offend people by asking them for verification so what do i do?

My opinion is no verification = no interest, but how do i get it respectfully?
