I used to use OKC back before the days of Tinder and online dating going mainstream and I met some really great and interesting people and made some lifelong connections on there.
These days it's really gone to shit. I tried revamping my profile just now but unless I have a paid subscription they won't even let me control the distance of people they show me - with the result that I'm being shown 95% people who live in a bigger city more than an hour away from my area, who I have no interest in seeing or matching with.
Add to that that they ditched the format that actually made them unique (you could search or browse a grid of profiles and message anyone, much like on grindr but without the seediness of grindr) and basically became an expensive and complicated version of Tinder's swipe game, but one that nobody really even uses anymore because..Tinder already existed and did it better. I really don't understand how they think they can justify their high subscription costs either....it might be different in other countries but here in Australia the app is pretty dead in the water anyway (probably because it's been effectively run into the ground usability-wise) so you'd be paying for next to nothing.
I hope the developers change course and recognise what actually made the original OKC special and go back to doing their own thing, and actually making it properly accessible and functional for free users so that people will actually start using it again
