I bought an Amia off of steelcase a couple weeks ago, and had it delivered earlier today.
I chose to go with the armless option, because I don’t like armrests on my work chairs. Era fabric, in Saffron.
My first impressions after having tried it out for a couple hours. For context I’m 5’8” and weigh about 175lbs currently.
Comfort: This is amazing, I tried out some of the other ergo chairs and the ones I tried all felt a little too hard.
Aesthetic: This is personal. I like the more minimal no frills look the chair has. The color in person seems significantly more orange than it did in their online catalog, but it’s still a good color. Definitively more of an orange red, than a red orange.
Assembly: Came in 3 parts, took all of 15 seconds to assemble. Assembly was super intuitive. Came with a instruction sheet, but wasn’t necessary.
Cons: It’s really heavy. If it hadn’t come in 3 pieces, I would have struggled to carry it comfortably down a flight of stairs. I could see this being an issue if you intend to use the chair at multiple levels within the work space.
Misc comment: it’s quite a bit bigger than I expected. Not a bad thing, but for whatever reason, it always looked a bit smaller than in person when I was looking at online reviews etc.
I’m going to really test it out next week, especially since I have a couple 12 hour days coming up, and will update this then, but I wanted to get my initial thoughts out in case I forget them by then.
