Why does it feel like I'm still waiting?

Celebrated my birthday (not today) and I kinda thought of someone. I know for sure I've moved on from such a bad experience I've had with someone, but I feel like deep down I still waited for a greeting or something of some sort.
Why am I still thinking of you from time to time? Why does it feel like I'm waiting for someone I've already removed from my life? Why do I still feel like you might come back any time soon?
Do I still have feelings for you? I am confused af.
