I just wanna share a really heartbreaking yet a beautiful love story of my Grandma and Grandpa.
Covid Pandemic days, sobrang dami naging restrictions saatin yung times na yan. My lolo has been diagnosed with alzheimer’s he got really weak pero hinahanap hanap talaga ng katawan niya yung mag trabaho and mag punta sa farm niya. For the whole day family looked for him, and they found him in one of his inaanak’s house. When they asked him why. He wasn’t talking. He was really weak na talaga, so everyone was preparing na anytime mamamaalam na talaga si lolo non cus he was showing signs na.
We were so worried about lolo, and then nanay which is my grandma suddenly asked my mom and her siblings to take her to the hospital. They don’t know why but nanay wasn’t looking really good that time. When they got to the hospital, they suspected it as covid so nanay waited for a while in the emergency room by herself. No one was allowed to accompany her. Next thing we know the doctors said kaylangan tubuhan si nanay may covid daw. Hanggang hindi na nila namanage hindi ns nila nirevive namatay na yung lola ko under their care. Parang kumurap lang kaming lahat non then wala na siya.
We were not able to give her a proper burial dahil nilibing nalang siya agad balot na balot siya ng plastics and tape when they put her inside ng kabaong. Then habang nililibing yung lola ko, we got a news that lolo was not waking up but he’s still breathing. After 3hours wala na he’s dead na din. Pinanindigan talaga nila ang Til Death Do us Part. Their children decided not to close the hukay nung nailapag na sa ilalim yung kabaong ni nanay na nasa loob ng concrete block. They decided na pag patungin sila sa iisang hukay.
Wala tragic yet it’s so beautiful. I miss them so much, I was lolo and lolas kid ever since. Hahaha.
share ko lang, after 2 yearscousin was able to work at the hospital where nanay went on her deathbed. Apprently, nakalagay sa records Nanay didn’t die due to covid. But due to cardiac arrest. Haha na quarantine pa for a month ang mom and siblings ko, they were able to talk things out and kahit papano nakapag mourn sila mag kakasama. Til now whenever theres a gathering sa bahay ng lolo at lola it still feels surreal. Feeling namin andon pa ang presence nila.
