I posted here before about a girl I saved online from suicide and now she's happy with her own family and 3 kids na.
Well this time, this is the opposite. 2 weeks ago, we received the news that our friend is missing or no updates for 3 days and founded her body on her dorm taken her own life. Nandun mga what ifs namin. What if we just went out para ma vent out nya feelings nya. Will there be a change?
It's been 2 weeks and I tell you I'm having hard time sleeping. Everyday, we save patients but it aches my heart when someone close to me I cannot save.
And now yesterday someone I knew had suicide attempt and she is now in the ICU. It is sad thinking even us doctors creeps in our mental health. Burn out. Stress. Depression. Kahit kami wala kaming takas dun.
Nakaka dismaya hearing comments na "doctor kayo dapat alam nyo mga gamot dyan. Wala na kayong time malungkot. Di nyo dapat naiisip yan."
Doctors are after all humans with emotions. We are seeking understanding and support from our family, friends, colleagues, and patients.
All the times that we miss very special events of your lives (birthday, baptism, weddings, reunions) we miss because of work to take care of other patients.. That even us we forget to take care of ourselves.
But this is not just for us, but to all who are reading this, please seek mental health care. I don't want to hear again suicide stories. We all deserve to live. Let's help each other and be each other's listening ear and shoulder to cry on.
