I saved a girl (that I met online) from her suicide attempt.
Post Body

Last 2019, during our physician board exam review I stumbled upon a website made by Dr. Gia Sison where you can vent anonymously or confess something just like OffMyChest. I confessed something there and read other posts then I stumbled a girls post confessed that she was raped by her cousin who lives at their house. The worst part is that she posted her real name. So I searched her at Facebook and messaged her to delete the post so that her cousin wouldn't read it or other perpetuator that can take advantage of her but she cannot delete it anymore hence she e-mailed Dr. Sison to delete the post. Good thing it was deleted within 24 hours. She thanked me and we chatted about what happened. She was losing hope at that time, left home and tried consulting psychiatrist. She felt better chatting (and did voice call too) with me, feeling that someone is really listening and still cares about her. We haven't talked since 2020. We aren't friends on Facebook too just messenger acquaintances.

Fast forward 2023, I don't know why but I thought of her as to how she was. I'm happy that she was married so I messaged her again as to how she is. I'm surprised she replied back and we updated each other how are we since past few years. I'm really happy that she's happy and I made a difference in her life even we didn't met personally. She's still in Tacloban, married, with 2 kids. And she invited me over a coffee when she will visit here in Manila.

So don't shoo away depression or invalidate their feelings. Just be the listening ear. Who knows, you might be their online angel.
