Title might sound odd, not sure how to word it, so let me explain.
I have a property I spend time camping at, camping being relative as I'm in a nice camp trailer. On this property are a few springs, one of which we have plumbed for some use. Unfortunately it has some brach/sediment in it, and isn't good to use in the trailer without filtering. For the last few years I've simply used a55 gallon food grade drum to haul water up when needed, but this isn't the most fun and can be sketchy when you need to make sudden unplanned movements while driving.
My thought is that I can instead have my drum on a stand, fill it using a hose from the piped spring head, then use my existing 12v transfer pump to push the water about 75' to the trailer. Flow rate isn't critical, I tend to slow it as it fills so it isn't spilling from the trailer as it fills. My concern is, the distance from the pump to the trailer is almost completely flat, with about 3'of rise to the trailer inlet. Drum will be above pump so no suction head added in. This pump has a max head of 46', but is the filter, which is going to slow the flow, adding to the head and going to necessitate a bigger pump?
Typical inline filters I see aren't showing what their flow rates are, and I'm just not sure the pump will be able to handle it.
The idea is I can use an existing solar panel to maintain a battery that can easily run this pump whenever I need to refill the tank on the trailer, and the spring can refill in-between as it will be super low flow gravity fed.
Any advice or tips? Recommendations? Bad idea?
Water is tested frequently, head is protected from wildlife and larger impurities, this is the small stuff to get it into the trailer(s).
