My partner and I got two IBC totes for free from someone moving who had them in their backyard. We are wanting to use them for a rain collection system from our roof and have the gutters and first flush valve system and all that in place. We set them up, but noticed leaking from both of them at the valves. After throwing a lot of various solutions at them, the leaking kept happening and then the handle for the valve snapped off on one of them, causing even MORE leaking. We don't want to trash these and want to repair as best we can. Here is a picture of a valve setup very similar to ours:
The red circled area is where I have my question. Could we remove the entire valve mechanism at the base and replace it with a new one? Like I said, there is leaking all over these and all our fixes have been futile on top of the snapped off valve handle. If we can remove the entire mechanism, how exactly? All videos show people screwing things off that are threaded or have the ridges that you can grab with a valve wrench, neither of which can grab the smooth area I have circled. It looks to me like the valve mechanism has a silicone ring of sorts between it and the main body of the tote, so it seems possible?
