I did this method a few months back and it worked for me. I reset my device after having activated a used headset for 3 weeks or so. I made an account, activated headset then learned about the referral code afterwards....reset the device and it worked! You will not lose any purchases you made after resetting either! (if you bought a used device, it may not work if they already accepted a referral for it)

Factory reset your headset. On the Horizon app, go to your avatar, then tap the 3 lines near the top right. Click on Devices, then select the device you want to factory reset. Go to Headset Settings, and finally Advanced Settings. Tap on Factory Reset and press Reset.

STEPS to Use Referral if you have 2 accounts. (some people did not get black Friday deals, so they made a new account, got the deal on new account and gifted it to their main account) this is essentially the same thing.

Note: These steps are applicable to you if you already have a meta account with games on it, or you got a username you really like, and are prevented from accepting a referral link by the meta website for ANY reason.

This is good for getting games using the credit to your main/first meta account, and also so you don't have to wait for meta support to respond to your ticket and worry about the 7 day period after activating your device to get the credit passing by.

This works even if you have already activated a meta/oculus device in the past, as long as the device you are trying to activate to get referral credit has not given referral credit to a different account, as meta referral credit eligibility is linked to the device serial number.

To successfully accept a referral through your original Meta account, follow these streamlined steps:

1. Disable VPN on Your Phone: If you're using a VPN, turn it off.
2. Log Out of Your Meta Account: On your phone, log out of your current Meta account.
3. Clear Cache and Storage: Go to the settings of your Meta Quest app and clear both cache and storage.
4. Create a New Meta Account:

• Open the Meta Quest App.
• Create a new account (Note: This will not replace your main account if you have a preferred username there).
• Use a secondary email (avoid using a brand new email to prevent triggering Meta's security alerts).
• Accept the Referral: - referral if you need it.

• Send the Meta referral link to your phone (make sure its for the correct location, as while some countries can use referral links from other countries, its still a safer bet to simply use a referral link from someone in your country.
• Factory Reset If Needed:
• If your new Meta Quest is already set up with your original account, perform a factory reset (Note: This won't delete games from your library; they can be reinstalled).
• Remove device data at Meta/Oculus Device Management. (You need to do this through your original meta account only if you already setup your new Meta Quest using it)
• Set Up the Headset: Use the newly created account to set up your Meta Quest headset.
• Use Referral Credit:
• If you receive the $60 Meta store credit (applicable for Quest 3 activations for the holidays- after dec 31 it will go back to $30, for other devices it is also $30, you can use it to purchase games.
• Pick 'buy for a friend' option on the meta quest store to send games to your main account if desired.
• Note: For the buy for a friend, the easiest way is to use the email associated with your main meta account. That way when you go to redeem the gift on the meta quest website, it gives you the option to autofill the gift code without needing to manually copy it from your email (at least it did for me).

1. Switch Back to Main Account (If needed)

• Factory reset the headset again.
• Remove the device from the account via the app and the website.
• Log out of the new account and log back into your main Meta account.
• Set up the headset with your main account.
• Redeem the gift codes for the games on your main account through the Meta Quest website.

By following these steps, you should be able to utilize your referral credit from your New Meta Quest device effectively while keeping your main account intact, and get $60 worth of games on your main account.
