This whole article is fascinating, mostly from the level of absolute denial, but the quote at the end is what really made me laugh. "The world only had one foremost expert on using carbon fiber to go in the deep oceans, and he's gone now." Yes, literally the only man in the world who thought using carbon fiber for a manned deep sea submersible was a good idea is gone now, because his carbon fiber submersible imploded in the deep seas exactly as a very large and vocal majority of the deep sea diving community and experts who knew what they were talking about told him it would.
Edit: one word to appease nitpicky redditors who get their tiny little panties bunched up about word choice because hyperbole as a literary device confuses their equally tiny little heads.
