Home health OT here. Recently evaluated a client with profound ID/ DD and spastic CP with the referral being for a chair recommendation for the client to be able to sit in in her room as this client spends almost all of her time in bed. She's non verbal and has a feeling tube.
Caregiver immediately states she is wanting a "chill-out chair" which appears to be an adaptive chair similar to a tilt n space but obviously without wheels.
Client already has a custom wc that's a tilt n space but caregiver is looking for an actual chair. I'm less experienced with this population of home health client and also with these types of chairs. I'm somewhat confident that I can justify medical necessity but am looking for some direction.
I have not found any existing literature and so was curious if any one has any thoughts or advice? Has any one recommended this device or something similar? Or has any one observed one in use? Are these safe?
