Does anyone else just tune out as soon as the phrase “Knights Templar” is uttered?
Post Body

It seems to have gotten even more ridiculous over the past few seasons. But last night was possibly the worst.

They have a genuinely interesting token that has just been identified as of Roman origin and dated to the 5th century. There’s even a very similar piece highlighted in the British museum.

So what does the show do?

Perhaps they give us a short piece about the Romans in Britain? Or some of the claims that Romans may have travelled to North America? Maybe they spoke to somebody from the British museum? Or an expert in Roman history?

No. They tried to convince us that a 5th century token was somehow linked to the Knights Templar, founded in 1119, over 600 years later.

It’s absolutely frustrating because there’s a genuinely interesting show underneath this History Channel BS. Sure, it’s a tiny token, but in anyone else’s hands it an opportunity to highlight theories of pre-Columbian exploration and explore Roman trade.

They’ll do the exact same thing with whatever it is Laird is excavating. It could be an interesting insight into local history and how an archeological dig is carried out. Instead they’ll claim it was a Knights Templar moon map where Jacques de Molay ritually lit his farts to decide where to bury Jesus’ foreskin.
