I see a lot of debate over this topic. I personally think that Nathan definitely should've been more honest regarding Carrie, and I felt really bad for Haley especially when she saw them in the shower. Nathan did have multiple chances to tell her and didn't.
Howeverrr, I think people tend to gloss over his mental health issues and how that played a significant role in the carrie storyline. Not that it excuses his actions, but it does explain them. He spent four months in a wheelchair with his self-worth gone. He went to a really dark place and had severe mental health issues (which the show neglected), and after all that, he was still in a "fragile" mindset. He didn't just magically heal overnight.
I totally felt bad for Haley in season 5, but I feel it's also forgotten that Nathan was sexually assaulted and the situation would've gone much more differently if it was a girl and not a guy.
This is an example of what I said before.
Also I didnât say you lacked insight. I said your comment doesnât address it all
All your comments focus on Nathan good and Haley bad for doing the same things.
Nathan sat on the couch and stopped parenting completely. Haley was using babysitters even though Nathan was at home
When youâre a parent, you still have to be there. Even when youâre depressed and dealing with mental illness
Thatâs the responsibility of being a parent. But I see for Nathan you justify it and for Haley you compare that to her yelling at Jamie with the baking scene
Perfect example of crucify Haley when sheâs depressed or for how she deals when Nathan is depressed
But Nathan heâs justified when heâs depressed and so on so forth
You also fail to realize that Nathan got into a fight that lead to his broken dream
Again his wrong isnât addressed
Itâs always Haleyâs bad, and poor Nathan had to deal with her
Very little accountability when it comes to Nathan
My exact words were âyour comment lacks insightâ
Please go reread instead of codswalloping.
Youâre defensive and what you say is all that

Wow! This has brought me a lot of insight
I didnât realize until you said it that Nathan does get manipulated a lot.
I always saw him as so strong and popular that no way someone could manipulate him, but looks like it happens pretty often
And as another comment mentioned, even Taylor manipulated him but he does have his limits and will stand up for himself or Haley eventually
But your comment lacks insight on what Haley is going through and why she responds the way she does
A lot of times in this sub, anything Haley does is crucified, but when Nathan does something, his actions get justified away
