I thought that was absolutely ridiculous. The justification behind it was stupid too, listening to Haley's mother talk to her dad about how her parents had tried to stop her from marrying him and she had always loved them less for it. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with not wanting your kids to get married at 16. It's not like they would have been telling Haley and Nathan they couldn't be together, just that they couldn't get married.
Deb was painted as the bad guy for telling them off at the party, but I thought she was absolutely right. They made a ridiculous decision by allowing their daughter to get married when she wasn't even an adult yet.
I absolutely don't understand why they had to get married at all. Yeah, Haley had been saving herself for marriage, but she was clearly almost ready to have sex with him even without getting married, so that wasn't really it. Also, Nathan even said on their wedding night that it wasn't about sex and she didn't have to she didn't want to, even if they are married now. They could have just stayed together without getting married, and then gotten married when they were older if they were still together. Getting married at 16 is a terrible idea for anyone because you're literally still a child, and your brain won't even be done developing for about a decade at that point.
Haley’s parents don’t even know Nathan well either. They just left her alone without a familial support system
I mean we know Nathan is good but for all her parents knew, he could’ve been really evil
They’re the epitome of don’t have 6 kids if you’re not gonna take care of them through at least their teenage years? Like what!?
I think they kinda gloss over the fact that Haley had absentee parents
