Okay so this is gonna be a very specific example and question that im curious if anyone on the internet has the answer to by some miracle.
I just recently damaged my Samsung S22 Ultra screen. Oddly enough, the glass is still entirely intact. But at about the halfway point of the screen, there's a line of dead pixels where the damaged occurred. Everything above the line is perfectly functional, however everything below the line flashes a bright whiteish green randomly or looks distorted.
Although I noticed that sometimes, randomly, it will start to function normal again for a few minutes. Which caught my attention but I could never figure out why it would just start working. There still would be a very thin line of dead pixels, but it'll look normal after that.
After some experimenting, I took a heat gun to the screen and heated up where the dead pixels were at, and like magic, the screen started to work again like normal. After some cooling down, it began to glitch out and flash green and look distorted again. I put the phone in the fridge for like 5 mins, and it even began to look worse. Heated up with the heat gun though, and all was fine.
Does anyone know why it does that? it's such a specific phenomenon and I'm curious on how the mechanism works. Why does applying heat to an OLED screen that's slightly damaged allow it to function normally again?
